The Green Valley School opened its doors in 1919. For three decades, it served grades one through nine for children in the local community.
In 1949, Denton ISD closed the school and transferred all the Green Valley students to Denton schools.
Denton ISD donated the property to the Green Valley School Historical Society in August 2024.
By 2011, sixty two years of neglect left the building in shambles and nearing total collapse.
That year, the Denton's Vietnam Veterans Chapter 920 took on the challenge of revitilizing and modernizing the facility.
After four years of work - over 15,000 hours of volunteer time and thousands of dollars of donated materials - the building reopened in 2014 as the new Green Valley School Community Center.
